With more than 250,000 hectares of land, the National Trust is a significant landowner.  Until recently they have been allowing an alternative legal form of hunting where horses, hounds and people follow a pre-laid scent trail.  But this has proved to be a smokescreen allowing illegal hunting to continue.

However, the release of these Hunting Office webinars in 2020 kickstarted a police investigation that eventually led to this National Trust members only vote.

Highlights include comments like this.

"If you've got saboteurs out with you in any shape or form, we need to have clear, visible, plausible trail laying been done throughout the day.  It's a lot easier to create a smokescreen if you've got more than one trail layer operating.  And that is what it's all about; trying to portray to the people watching that you are going about your legitimate business."

To ban trail hunting on National Trust land, please vote "For" the "members' resolution about trail hunting, exempt hunting and hound exercise on National Trust land."
